What is CYBER-ESQUE? CYBER-ESQUE is a fanzine Cyber Chameleon started in 2011, collecting photos and articles from publications online and in print worldwide, and presenting them in a cool, free, digital magazine format.
OK, but why? I'm a collector, and if you're anything like me, you probably have a collection of magazines featuring Roy - or The Boy - beginning from the 80s, where pop bibles like Smash Hits and Number One reigned supreme. Or you could have joined the Culture Club fan-club and got things like the Multicultural Club magazines, or other fanclubs which had their own zines. And again, if you're anything like me, when you come across one of those - even decades later - they provide an entertaining and colourful read
These days, with social media taking over print media as the main form of getting pop culture information, news comes in instantly, and is then digested and forgotten quickly, which means referencing anything you think you read a couple weeks ago involves wading through Google searches and various Facebook posts... enter CYBER-ESQUE.
Print and bind it to keep alongside your existing collection. Think of it as a digital scrapbook, where the clippings won't be wrecked by glue, or fall apart because the sticky tape has lots its grip.
The last CYBER-ESQUE issue was released in early 2015, so we're a bit behind. But don't fret - there are a series of special issues in the works to bring this much-loved feature of Cyber Chameleon back.
